Starship has now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles, and is currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Our contribution to society includes reducing congestion, and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses.
We’re hitting records on an almost weekly basis. Now is an exciting time to join as we grow rapidly around the world!
We are seeking a strategic and driven Government Affairs Manager to join our Public Affairs team and lead our public affairs, policy, and regulatory work across the Nordics.
You will be responsible for driving market entry strategy and expansion through expert-level public affairs and government relations. You will engage proactively with national and local governments, regulators, municipalities, and third-party stakeholders.
You’ll help shape the future of autonomous mobility in the region by driving policy changes, identifying regulatory pathways, and ensuring alignment with local priorities around innovation, sustainability, and urban development.
The position is based in Helsinki, Finland, or in a nearby city from which you can easily commute to Helsinki regularly.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Leading government relations across the Nordics and acting as the main point of contact for policymakers, regulators, and public institutions
- Monitoring legislation and policy trends related to autonomous delivery, robotics, mobility, data use, and sustainability
- Securing permits, pilot programmes, and deployments by working closely with municipal governments and local partners
- Supporting commercial growth by enabling scalable policy frameworks and removing regulatory barriers
- Representing the company in forums, events, trade associations, and public consultations
- Building relationships with third-party stakeholders such as NGOs, think tanks, and accessibility groups
- Collaborating with internal teams to align public affairs efforts with business priorities and deployment plans
- Advising leadership on political risk, reputation, and emerging opportunities in the region
- Managing agency and external public affairs partnerships
What’s in it for you?
- You’ll have the chance to shape the policy landscape for a category-defining technology and make a tangible impact on sustainable urban mobility
- Opportunity to work on industry-leading self-driving delivery robot technology on a uniquely large scale, creating history and making things happen
- You can immerse yourself in the world of technology and innovation
- You will collaborate with highly motivated people who are passionate about what we do. We are self-aware and seek feedback and improvement. We don’t want to wait until we are told what needs to be done, but take it as a matter of pride to figure out solutions for topics in various teams and areas
- You’ll have endless opportunities to learn from our inspirational, talented team members across the globe
What we hope you’ll bring to the table:
- At least 5 years of experience in public/government affairs, policy, or regulatory affairs
- A strong understanding of political systems across the Nordic region, with hands-on experience engaging with Finnish Ministries, government bodies, and politicians. Practical experience in at least one other Nordic country is a plus
- Experience collaborating with local authorities or municipalities
- A solid grasp of EU institutions and policymaking processes
- Excellent communication skills in both Finnish and English; other Nordic languages are a plus
- Ability to work independently across multiple jurisdictions, while building strong relationships and staying adaptable and collaborative in fast-changing or ambiguous environments
- Willingness and ability to travel within Finland and occasionally to other Nordic countries
- Experience in a fast-paced technology, transport, logistics or innovation-focused environment
- Familiarity with policy areas like autonomous mobility, transport regulation, smart cities, or digital innovation
